    1. Listen to Your Doctor – Follow your doctor’s advice and instructions regarding treatment, recovery & rehabilitation. Consider obtaining a second medical opinion, if you feel necessary;
    2. Time Off Work – If your doctor advises you to take time off work, then you should listen to your doctor’s advice, to allow yourself time to recover properly and to avoid further injury;
    3. Keep Rested & Recover Well – While you are resting, your body has time to focus on recovery & repairing itself at a cellular level. Your body will naturally heal itself by making new cells and replace those cells that have been permanently damaged or destroyed;
    4. Keep Hydrated & Eat Healthy – Drinking lots of water will help your body repair it’s cells & eating healthy will boost your body’s immune system;
    5. Be Careful – Remember that you have sustained an injury and cannot function at the level you were prior to your accident. Don’t lift or carry anything that may result in you straining or injuring yourself further;
    6. Rehabilitation – Consider all types of rehabilitation recommended to you by your doctor. For example, undergoing a course of physiotherapy when your body is ready, will enhance your recovery;
    7. Exercise – With your doctor’s recommendation, slowly begin to exercise at low intensity and within reason. Do not overdo it, otherwise you may put yourself at risk of further injury;
    8. Time – Give yourself time to recover to allow your body to heal and get better. Be patient & kind to yourself during the recovery process.
