All employers who employ staff in Queensland must have a valid work accident insurance policy.

Public Liability Accident Claims

Public liability claims are when people sustain injury on a third-party premises, property, or site. For example, this might include injuries sustained at a shopping centre, petrol station, theme park, sporting events, resort, hotel, private property, rental properties, public parks, or halls, at events such as concerts, pubs or even as a contractor working on a job site for a property developer.

Medical Negligence Claims

Medical negligence is when people are injured, or death is caused due to the negligent act of a medical practitioner or even an oversight or failure caused by other medical staff. Medical negligence can occur during a medical consultation, minor procedure, or major surgery, by a failure to properly diagnose, warn of medical complications or provide a standard of reasonable care. Medical negligence can occur in various settings, such as in a private practice or a public or private hospital.

Superannuation Claims – Total and Permanent Disability Claims

Total and permanent disability lump sum claims are made through your superannuation. These claims are only suitable for people who have suffered injury that will result in a person not being able to return to work in the same capacity.

Institutional Abuse

Institutional abuse is where a child (under the age of 18), has been subject to sexual, physical or mental abuse while in the care of an institution.

Time Limitations

In Queensland, there are different types of legislation that cover all accident types causing personal injury and strict time limits apply concerning being eligible to make a claim for compensation. While Queensland has a three-year (3) statutory limitation period for personal injury, there are still strict time limits for lodging injury claims, depending on what legislation applies.
